THESE DIY VIDEOS & ME

I started watching these DIY vid when I was about 14, its been eight years but never had I ever tried a DIY thing suggested in the videos, not until now. In the past week, I did something that was not expected from a person like me. I did try out the DIY thing and did it myself.

note: for artistic people this might seem overdramatic or unreal because it is in their nature to do creative stuff impromptu. My sister, for example, is always DIYing she even gifted me DIY school supplies for my birthday.

SO INITIALLY....

I watched DIY vids because I found them to be interesting. That's it. I never felt like I might try these. This was because I had many mommy-acceptable(socially acceptable) excuses ready in the backstage of my mind. these were like this stuff is too damn foreign, who has so much stuff to spare, whos got time, manicure for a vid! girl be crazy or what? I gotta study, the school won't give extra credit for this, I won't get a job for making a doormat outta old towels. I was always a lazy bum.

note: I am good at DIYing, for years we have made old t-shirts into mops and dusters.

INDUCING FACTORS...

things began to change when 1) my momma started using FB
                                                  2) 5 minutes craft and nifty grew popular af
                                                  3) Indian YouTubers grew in number and popularity

so my mom was "liking-sharing-and-commenting" these vids on facebook. nifty and 5 minutes craft were putting up vids with titles that included provocative words like- easy - beginner - school - cool - minutes - etc...
Indian YouTubers were also DIYing with stuff my sister already had ( so I had them too, I just needed to borrow them).

ALL MY PRIOR EXCUSES WERE MARRED however then I came in 11th grade and with that all creative expectations from me also came to 11th(the end). I was all covered up.

however, this lasted for only 2 years and on April 25th I got free from my board exams.

by that time I had watched a hell lot of Pinterest and youtube. I was no longer in escapist mode. I was too much free and ready to try a hand at DIY, not because it interested me as in 9th grade but because
---> I just had to do it for the sake of it
---> I continued to grow out my t-shirts until 16-17 unlike must of my friends
---> I didn't want to throw my this white tee because it's owl prints were just too cute.
---> My Instagram would look cool

AFTERMATH & CONCLUSION...

It fits me loosely now but I do not look like the youtuber.
It only looks good in pictures so at least I can put it up on Instagram.
Unlike in the video, it took me 1 hr and 45 minutes and not 2 minutes.
I bought a fringe top worth a 1000 rupees and it looks much better.
My mom was angry because I didn't help her out in the kitchen in waste times.
My sister refused to wear it.

I think only I will have to wear it during one of those secret aerobic sessions.

I am thru with DIY.
